The story of THE TRUTH

The Truth is an association that fights for the protection and integration of the Nigerian community and Nigerian women who are new arrivals in Marseille. Since our beginnings, we have been committed to supporting women by helping them obtain residency permits and raising awareness about the risks associated with migration and human trafficking. It was with this goal in mind that Grace Inegbeze, the founder of THE TRUTH, traveled to Nigeria in 2018 to meet with associations and authorities fighting against human trafficking. Despite the COVID-19 crisis, we continued our activities in partnership with ACF by distributing hygiene kits for women and children as well as cleaning products for housing. Today, our association is well known in the Nigerian community in Marseille and is a symbol of the tireless commitment of its members to defend human rights and protect the most vulnerable.

Our actions

At THE TRUTH, we carry out concrete actions to support and follow Nigerian individuals living in precarious conditions, whether it be in squats, emergency accommodations, or degraded co-owned properties. Our goal is to help them access healthcare while preventing the risks of trafficking and prostitution.

We also organize collective workshops to inform, raise awareness, and prevent issues related to sexual health, rights, and social integration for beneficiaries. Additionally, we offer a training and awareness program for professionals and institutional and associative actors on the specificities of populations affected by human trafficking and prostitution within the Nigerian community, with 10 training sessions per year.

Lastly, we provide methodologies and tools to allow individuals in migration situations to access healthcare and understand the healthcare network in France while preventing the risks of trafficking and prostitution by supporting the development of self-support and mutual aid groups.

Grace Inegbeze, the founder

Grace Inegbeze is a Nigerian activist who fights against human trafficking and supports Nigerian women who have emigrated to France. In 2018, she founded the association "THE TRUTH" to help these women who are often undocumented, isolated, and living in precarious situations. Many Nigerian women who come to Europe are potential victims of prostitution and often end up homeless. Grace decided to help women in her community by providing them with the necessary tools to avoid danger. According to Grace, Europe is not the promised land and it is essential to consider the risks and possible consequences.
